Kristi Penland Murrell, originally from the USA, has lived in several parts of Costa Rica since 1997. She has witnessed the country’s change and growth. She is fluent in English and Spanish and has three children, all born in Costa Rica.
Kristi is an attorney at law and notary public in Costa Rica with a master’s degree in notary and registry law. Kristi graduated from law school in Costa Rica with honors.
Prior to being an attorney & notary public in Costa Rica, Kristi worked for other law firms for more than 5 years as well as a local real estate and development company for more than 10 years. Also in earlier years, Kristi taught English to adults and children.
Kristi is the founder of Uvita Law Firm which has been serving the community and all of Costa Rica since 2010. Uvita Law Firm has grown into a well-recognized and respected firm with a diverse group of experienced lawyers within the firm and many external lawyers and other professionals who assist when requested.
Kristi also has vast experience with property development and real estate. Her thesis proposed a regulation to real estate law, and she is passionate about community involvement, equality and healthy growth that preserves Costa Rican culture while adding new opportunities, arts and interests to the area.

Degrees:
License in Law, with Honors, Universidad Latina, January 20th 2010. Kristi’s thesis was ‘The legal regulation of activity of Real Estate Brokerage in Costa Rica’ where she proposed a law to regulate real estate activity in Costa Rica and obtained a 100%.
